The Corduroy Comeback

January 1, 2021 | By Alejandra Yzaguirre

From the recent men’s fashion weeks in New York, London, Milan, and Paris, corduroy was an unmistakable standout trend in menswear for Fall 2020.

At H&J we are totally re-obsessed with corduroy. With roots dating all the way back to ancient Egypt, corduroy became a truly iconic fabric in the 1970s due to its popularity with artists, writers, and musicians. Corduroy is like fabric comfort food which means it is PERFECTLY suited for the moment.

At H&J we wanted to take this classic fabric and update it with a modern twist. We combined two fall trends in one refined stylish look (wide wale corduroy and shades of red and orange) in our double-breasted suit that Adeshi is seen wearing here.

Whether you choose to wear the complete suit or break it up, this dynamic duo has almost unlimited styling possibilities. Wear it with a fine gauge merino wool mock turtleneck for a clean modern look. Layer the jacket over a crisp white shirt and pocket square in your favorite fall colors and pair with your favorite denim jeans for a more casual look. Tons of options. Lots of versatility. And laid-back comfort no matter how you style it.
